What is the difference between bilateral stimulation and EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy used to treat trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. Bilateral stimulation is the core mechanism that makes it work.

During EMDR sessions, a trained therapist guides a client through distressing memories while BLS through eye movements, tapping, or sound keeps both sides of the brain engaged.
